Prayer Card Exchange
We are sponsoring a Prayer Card Exchange at the upcoming Diocesan Ministry Resource Days, a marvelous gathering of teaching, sharing, fellowship, and prayer, on May 9, 2009. Prayer cards are a small and easy form of devotional art and we would like your participation at this event. This is a lovely way to pray together as a diocese particularly in this time of economic insecurity and to "Be the Church in Anxious Times." Bring some cards from your parish to trade with other churches in the diocese.
The cards are made by combining beautiful words and images; words on one side and images on another. 4 cards can be printed on a single 8.5 x 11 size sheet of paper and we recommend matte photo paper, heavier art paper, or any weight of cardstock. Attached you will find a flyer and some examples of prayer cards. The possibilities are limited only by our imagingation. Perhaps some of your children can create cards for other children.
We're hoping each church will bring 100 cards (25 sheets with 4 cards each) to the exchange table. It will be located outside The Mount Olympus Room just adjacent to the worship space in the Student Union. Be sure and include your parish name along with any appropriate attributions for image and text on the cards. You may find some inspiration in the readings selected for the midday Eucharist at this event: Act 12:6-12, Psalm 121; and Mark 4: 35-41
Peace be with you as you enter into prayer and creativity.
