New Orleans Mission Trip Forming for October, 2009

Scores of Episcopalians from the Diocese of Olympia have made mission trips to New Orleans the past three years as part of our We Will Stand With You Campaign and our partnership with St. Paul's, Lakeview, and the Diocese of Louisiana. For many who've made the journey, it has been a transformative experience to help our brothers and sisters recover their homes. We in turn have been blessed by the gratitude of those we've helped. And, the need still exists for volunteers to help with the rebuilding.
The diocesan office is organizing a one-week mission volunteer work trip to New Orleans, October 4 to October 11, 2009. We will be staying at the Urban Ministry Center which is on St. Charles Street, next to the Diocese of Louisiana offices in the Garden District. It is a very nice facility, with cots, showers, and a kitchen.
Cost for the one week in New Orleans is $250 per person, which covers housing, meals shared at the center and the rental of vans to get us to and from the airport as well as the work sites. Each individual is responsible for making and paying for their own flights or travel to New Orleans. Plane fare from Seattle is running $250 to $300 per person. Plan or arriving Sunday, and departing a week later.
To reserve your spot, send $100 deposit or the full $250 registration fee made out to "Diocese of Olympia" to: NOLA Mission Trip, P.O. Box 12126, Seattle, WA 98102. We will hold your spot, first come, first served. lso send your e-mail contact information, name/address, and home and cell phone information. Introduction and complete information for volunteers is available at http://odr.edola.org; it is recommended you look at this before you decide whether to join the trip. Much more information is available by contacting Kathy Hamilton at or 206-325-4200/800-488-4978, ext. 2032.
