If you're a church communicator--newsletter editor, website administrator, bulletin designer and anyone involved in telling the good news of your congregation--join us for a day of conversation and education, drawing on the ideas and experiences of each other. Hear what's on the horizon for the communications department in the Office of the Bishop. Learn more from fellow Episcopalians in the Diocese of Olympia about website best practices, social networking application Twitter and electronic marketing/newsletter software. An Event Celebrating the Ministry of
Bishop "Nedi" Rivera

The African-American Committee of the Diocese of Olympia invites you to a performance of the Black Nativity: A Gospel Song Play by Langston Hughes and to a reception celebrating the ministry of Bishop "Nedi" Rivera, on December 12th. The reception starts at 12:45pm and the performance at 2:00pm. Both are at the Intiman Theater (on the grounds of the Seattle Center).
Ticket prices:
- Diamond Level: $500 (free parking, reception/lunch and performance)
- Platinum Level: $150 (free parking, reception/lunch and performance)
- Gold Level: $100 (reception/lunch and performance)
- Silver Level: $50 (reception/lunch and performance)

Ways to Get Ready and Ways to Help
It’s getting to be that time of year when we’re concerned about flooding and preparing for other disasters that might be on the horizon. Following are three announcements to help you get ready, including ways you can help neighbors in need when the time comes.

La Iglesia Episcopal de la Ressurcción, Mt. Vernon is seeking gifts for 250 children from low-income farm worker families in the Skagit Valley. The gifts will go to the 130 children who attend Resurrección, and to another 120 children who need assistance from the church.
Among the items needed are: gift cards for food from Safeway, Brown and Cole (with stores in Bellingham and Skagit counties), or Haggen's/Top Foods. Gifts wrapped in advance are appreciated with a tag designating whether it's for a boy or a girl. Gifts are due by Tuesday, Dec. 15 for distribution on Friday, Dec. 18.
Gifts also can be dropped off at Resurrección by Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 415 So. 18th Street in Mt. Vernon.
Donations for the ministry and for the Resurrección Scholarship Fund also are appreciated.

H1N1 Preparedness

By now you have heard that there is an expectation of a reemergence of the Swine Flu in the next weeks and months. College campuses are already seeing cases. Washington State University has five cases currently. It is difficult to know how to prepare for this, but there are certainly some good guidelines emerging to help us.
