Diocese of Olympia social media, publications earn top awards
At its annual meeting this spring, Episcopal Communicators awarded six Polly Bond awards to the Diocese of Olympia, including the professional organization’s highest honor, the Award for General Excellence in Social Media. Also recognized were the diocesan website (Award of Excellence: Visual Design), the Episcopal Voice (Award of Merit: Layout, Honorable Mention: Writing-Profile/Interview and Honorable Mention: Photography-Single Use) and the Christmas advertisement Come and See (Honorable Mention: Low-Budget Video, Short Form).
The diocesan website launched in early 2011 after a redesign done in conjunction with Seattle-based Fuse IQ, a web development firm that specializes in nonprofit organizations. Social media and other communications efforts are maintained by a team of diocesan staff and very skilled, dedicated volunteers.
Diocesan representation in the organization continues, with internet strategist Kerry Allman completing a term on the Episcopal Communicators’ board of directors and Norah Joslyn, director of diocesan communication, beginning a term.
