Notes of Appreciation from Recipients
Notes of appreciation from recipients of the Student Scholarship Fund in 2007
Aileen MacLaren Loranger, St. Thomas, Medina
“I am slowly working my way towards candidacy in the diaconal process. To that end, I am now enrolled in my fourth year of Education for Ministry. The tuition is $350 per year so your gift is very appreciated. I am also newly enrolled in the Pastoral Counseling masters program at Seattle University. Every penny is precious, thank you all for your committee’s generosity!”
Karen Pierce, St. Paul’s, Port Townsend
“I was admitted into postulancy to the Diaconate last December. I am married and have a 16 year old daughter. I am currently taking a number of classes on-line from Church Divinity School of the Pacific. I will begin my CPE this summer and will be traveling to Olympia once a month, for seven months. I am so grateful for all of your work and service in making this scholarship possible. The support is a most wonderful gift to me. I hold you in my prayers.”
Elizabeth Easton, St. Stephen’s, Seattle
“Thank you so much for the generous donation to help fund my seminary education. I deeply appreciate the prayer and support of the diocese as I continue to study in preparation for Holy Orders. You are in my prayers as I continue the final weeks of my first year at CDSP.”
Rilla Barrett, St. James, Sedro-Woolley
“Several years ago I took my life vows as a Third Order Franciscan. What a joy it now is to return to school as a student at Vancouver School of Theology. This year I am taking a full load or classes, staying on campus 3 nights a week in Vancouver, Canada. It is a financial bind but VST has generously gifted me bursaries and I have applied for student loans. I’m in a transitory time, financially, and to see the financial gift from the SSC Committee last week really buoyed me. I do so appreciate your willingness to assist me with my educational expenses. With the check is not only monetary help, but for me, it is received as a real message of caring and aid from the diocesan community. We are traveling a path together, making God’s love known in the world. This support speaks to me of journeying along with so many others. Again, thank you for this gift. I pray that God will continue to bless you and the other members of the committee in your ministries.”
