Diocesan School of Ministry and Theology (DSOMAT)
The Diocesan School is a learning community that exists to enrich the lives and ministries of lay people by providing challenging and inspiring courses of instruction to further their education and to provide a theological framework for their ministries. Our courses offer a basic and coherent program for any student who seeks an introduction to the tapestry of scripture, tradition, and reason that characterizes the Anglican expression of Christianity.
To that end, we are working on becoming a center for distance learning that will allow people from every part of the Diocese, no matter how remote, to participate in our courses, individually online, in groups at learning centers, or in real-time interactive participation in our classes at Diocesan House.
We also help satisfy continuing education courses for people in licensed ministries such as Eucharistic Visitors, Worship Leaders, and Eucharistic Ministers. We also provide assistance to people and parishes in developing ministries such as pastoral care networks.
DSOMAT is not a seminary, nor do we currently provide training for ordained ministry, though some of our students are exploring that possibility.
